Founding 49ers

Football season is in full swing, and if you are looking for ways to get more connected with the game than just watching from your couch, then you will not want to miss out on the Founding 49ers discussion at Community Hall. On Thursday, October 1st from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. the Lafayette Library and Learning Center will be hosting the lively discussion that all football fans will enjoy.

The San Francisco 49ers are five time Super Bowl Champions and have produced some of the most dynamic football players in history, including Jerry Rice, How Montana, and Ronnie Lott. However, the greatness that followed the team did not come about until 35 years after the franchise was originally founded in 1946. Even though the first years of the team did not bring any league or conference titles, it broke down racial barriers in the sport, produced eight Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees, and transformed San Francisco into one of the most popular major league cities in California.

Award Winning sportswriter, Oakland Tribune columnist, and author of 10 books, Dave Newhouse, will be joined by former 49er Charles Krueger to discuss the founding of the 49ers, from the early years through the eyes of the players were able to build the foundation of the franchise.

Tickets for the event are $10 for donor members, $15 for general admission, and $25 for reserved seating and an autographed copy of Founding 49ers.
