Art in Orinda: Public Displays to Check Out!

Featured Author: Contra Costa Living Blog Team

There is so much art in the local community that sometimes it can be difficult to see everything.  We’ve spotted some really interesting pieces on the streets lately and would like to take a minute to share them with you; what better way to spend a lovely spring Saturday than to walk around the community and view public art displays?

Artist Douglas Heine produces metal sculpture with a whimsy, earthy feeling.  You can find some of his pieces located in prominent places within the community including in front of City Hall ("Spirit Dance"), within the Orinda Sculpture Court ("Fruit of the Aluminum"), and at Orinda Community Park ("Butterflies").

The library plaza and rotunda features several pieces including Kent Roberts mixed media piece "Surveillance", Danielle Satinover’s "Sound Explosion", and Susannah Israel’s "Circus in Orinda".

The Community Center is another location which prominently displays art.  Look for John Toki’s ceramic piece "Springtime Spirit", Kevin Christison’s bronze sculpture "Mother Reading to Child", and John Toki’s ceramic "Blue Back #2".
